ABOUT MY WORK AND TRAINING
My approach to psychotherapy is informed by my training in psychodynamic psychotherapy (talk therapy) and trauma therapy, including EMDR. In addition to individual psychotherapy and EMDR psychotherapy, I provide adjunctive EMDR. Adjunctive EMDR is practiced in consultation with a client's primary therapist and uses focused sessions to resolve specific traumatic memories or negative beliefs.
I apply a custom approach to therapy based on individual needs and goals. Research consistently shows that therapeutic rapport, trust, and understanding are important for successful treatment. This aligns with my own experience as a therapist and my belief that open and collaborative therapeutic work can facilitate healing.
My areas of expertise include trauma (particularly PTSD and complex trauma, moral injury, and sexual violence), grief and loss, post-traumatic growth, healing, interpersonal relationships, and family dynamics. My experience in public health shapes my evidence-based approach and can contextualize an individual client's situation within a broader population, including explorations of gender, race, class, religion, and more.
I welcome all backgrounds into my practice, and my experience includes working with veterans, first responders, medical professionals, activists, and humanitarian aid workers.
I have advanced training in EMDR and completed the two-year EMDR Clinical Affiliate program at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, where I also completed the Integrative Trauma Studies certificate program.
I completed a one-year intensive psychoanalytic psychotherapy program, focusing on the interpersonal approach to psychotherapy, at the William Alanson White Institute.
I earned a Masters of Public Health from the University of Washington (Seattle) and a Masters of Social Work from New York University.
